Hallo, ich bin Abbey und ich spreche kein Deutsch. Eh, ein bißchen. BOOM POW.

Soo, today while I was waiting for my bus I decided to head into McDonald's and try to order food with no help from anyone else.
And I did it!
2 points for Abbey.
Yeah. I must have looked extremely funny since I then sat there and was just so happy and smiley while I was eating.
The only other time I was ever sorda "by my self" was when me and Aino (other exchange student in my class) went and got dönner 2 weeks ago. But Aino is alright with her speaking skills, so she did most of the talking, while I just was there... smiling.
Das ist Aino.

Well, yeah, that's all I have to tell.

Oh, yeah. Yesterday I bought 2 chocolate bars and I can't find one of them and it's making me very flustered. I know where the other one is - in my stomach, but my second one is nowhere to be seen.
blah. rough life, I know.

Just call me stereotypical.

I'm being a stereotypical american and craving fast food.
AMERICAN FAST FOOD.
Oh, what I would give to go to Taco Bell and Taco Johns
and Culver's, Wendy's, Godfathers Pizza.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
I must admit though that McDonald's here is like 0.5x better.
OH LAWDY.
The first time I went to a McDonald's here I was like, squealing.
Seriously, squealing.
Then when my OSK class took a trip to Bonn, we were suppose to eat stereotypical German food.
LOL, nope. MCDONALD'S.
Gah, what can I say? I am a stereotypical american in the "McDonald's category"
LOL sooo embarassing.
But last Friday we got take out from this Asian fast food place called "AsiaHung" and it was... so good.
Not quite on the level as Hunans or Chong's, but definitely hitting the par of HyVee.

Lol, hot dogs here are just plain different.
I had one at this fair last night with Anne and Tilman,
and they are like... spicy.
Like, horseradish spicy.
AND THEY'RE HUGE.
You can't just like take a bit.
You have to like take 3 bites to equal a regular bite.
But the hot dog itself is the same size as US ones.
idk, I am terrible at explaining.
And then, you automatically get stuff all over your face.
Hot dogs are just one of those foods you can't
look attractive while eating.

Well, I'm hungry.
ICH HABE HUNGER.
Soooooo, I'm gonna go eat breakfast.
I honestly dream of breakfast here CUZ IT'S SO THE TOTES GOOD.
Mmmm bread and butter and ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Oh lanuage epiphany, please come sooner.

I have always been really slow at learning new languages.
And it sucks now because all I can do is listen
and not join into the conversation. I would think after 7 weeks I would be able to say more, but nope.
I feel though that sometime soon everything is just gonna hit me and I'll be like
"AH I CAN SPEAK GERMAN!! WHAT!?!"
But I'll obviously say that in German.
And I then won't feel like a little toddler anymore.
But until then... ugh.

Everyone here is so smart, too.
If they ask what a word is in English, they will remember it forever. Me, they have to repeat the word at least 4 times.
At least.
Most of the time 6.
Everyone also says that their English is really bad and I just want to slap them. They all are honestly fluent in English.
GAH, I'M SO JEALOUS OF THEIR BILINGUAL-NESS.
More like trilingual-ness.
America seriously needs to start teaching
foreign languages at a younger age.
YOU HEAR THAT AMERICA!!

Me and linguistics just don't go together.
I am for the most part a quick learner at everything else
(except physics, lol. yeah, no)
But with language, nah uh.
Oh lanuage epiphany, please come sooner.

Bis dann, Abbey.

*Sorry to all of you in Winona who lost a friend this week, John will be missed by many.

Mittwoch.

Wednesdays always seem to be good days.
Maybe because it's the best school schedule.
2 hours of Musik
2 hours of Englisch
2 hours of Sport
1 hour of Deutsch
IDK
But yeah, today was a good day.
I learned/slept in Musik.
Englisch is just the best class.
And in Sport I got two mark 1s and a mark 2.
Since when do I actually do well in Phy Ed?
But I sprinted 300m in 33.0 sec and got a mark 2.
Ran 1000m in 5.10 min and got a mark 1.
And I ended up getting the furthest throw for shot put in my entire Sport class.
I ended up throwing 2m more then the 2nd best person.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA WHAT?!?
I have no clue if 7.10m is good, but in my class I guess it is.
Why in America do I honestly suck in Phy Ed, but here
I am just doing really well?
In the next couple of weeks we start the handball unit.
LOL So, yeah, I won't be able to impress
too many people with my skills.
The Friedrich family, 1st hand, knows that I am no good
at that sport.
HAH

I think my taste buds have changed as well.
Back home if someone came near me with a tomato or an egg,
I'd be running the other way.
But now, I am like
"Bring it on."
Food is so good here.
I hope all you back home won't mind when I come back fat.

ALSO, I started piano lessons and I really enjoy them.
Today was my second lesson and I have learned a lot.
Plus it helps me in Musik class.
But yeah, it's cool.
The only weird thing that trips me up is that B is an H here.
So a C scale is...
C D E F G A H C
THAT JUST MAKES NO SENSE TO ME.
And a H-flat is a B. wtf?

Yeah, I think that's it though.
All in all, today = good.

Mathe +

So, I think it's a little funny
how I sort of look forward to math class.
Since when did that happen?
Idk. Maybe it's because it's very structured
and there's only one correct answer,
or it may be because my teacher actually makes me work.
All the other classes my teachers don't even look my way and I end up asleep with drool down my cheek.
But in math, I swear she looks forward to yelling at me
and, well, making me work.
(But yeah, don't tell my teacher I enjoy the nagging)
I also really enjoy English class.
That's the only class where I can tell jokes
and people think I'm funny.
It's quite hard not being able to make a joke about things.
I end up making one in my head and laughing alone.
...then people look at me funny.
Rough life, I know.

I also see the American flag a lot on t-shirts
and other clothing items.
They are very patriotic here. More patriotic than me.
SAY WUT?!
I also figured out I use slang like no otha'
That's just because I'm such a hip and happenin' teenager. DUH.

Anyways, that's all folks.
I need to get back to my history homework.
BLAH

My brain is mush.

So, today was the start to my 3rd week of school, and
My brain is mush.
Seriously.
I can't seem to remember much and all I want to do is sleep.
...and sleep
...and sleep
...and maybe eat
...and sleep
(I have been staring at my computer screen for 10 minutes trying
to figure out what to write... because my brain is mush)
AHH WHAT'S HAPPENING TO ME?!
But uh, yeah.

Yesterday we visited the Baltic Sea and it's quite lovely.

Anne has a really nice camera, btw.

Anyways, I'm off to bed.
At 5 o'clock in the afternoon.
GOODNIGHT
Gute Nacht
BYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

I also feel like the fat boy from Willy Wonka because I can't stop eating chocolate.

Schmeckt Gut.

So, this was supper tonight.
I just couldn't stop laughing when I saw this.
AMERICAN HOT DOGS
Ummm, yeah, ok.
BUT, never judge a book by its cover because
these things are DELICIOUS
Well done German made American hot dog.

Week One of School

HEY HEY HEY
First week of School
DONE
First week of school was fine.
Everyone in my class is UBER DUBER nice,
and there is another exchange student from Finland, Aino,
 also in my class.
I can honestly say that everything the teachers say
go in one ear and out the other.
Yeah, I understand pretty much squat.
Oh well!
It's quite nice that my school is not giving me marks (grades) for the first half of the year so I can then
 "Focus on learning Deutsch"
Which is A-OK with me!
So most classes I won't get marks
(but I still have to attend them and do homework and stuff)
except for Musik, Englisch, and Sport.
Again, A-OK with me.
ALSO
On Wednesday in Musik class  we were having a test on 3rds, and...
I GOT A MARK 1
That's really impressive for an exchange student. (it's an A+)
And everyone in my class started clapping for me!!
Ah, SO COOL!
Yeah, so first week was pretty darn good.

HAVE A GREAT DAY.
