Made it!

Made it to Deutschland.
But Let me start the story in DC.

Union Station, Washington DC

So, we all (cbyx-YFU finalists) met in DC on Tuesday,
but were great friends that had a hard time saying goodbye on Friday after the long 7 hour flight.
While in DC we learned a lot from our YFU alumni and teachers.
But if you are a soon-to-be cbyxer expect not much sleep.
But you will make great friends!!

Now the flight.

Acting like typical american teenagers while finding our seats.

Oh, man. The flight.
More like:
BEST FLIGHT EVER
Gosh, so much fun.
Though, I wasn't seated right next to my friends, I made many new ones. Including a 12 year old boy from Hamburg.

Walli is one cool kid.

Walli was so awesome. Neither of us could sleep so we talked.
And talked and talked and talked.
He had only been speaking English for 2 years and could hold a long and funny conversation with me and people around us.
But at the end of the flight we had to say our goodbyes.
It was very sad.

Walking off the plane and into the Frankfurt airport we were greeted with some
"Welcome to Frankfurt Airport Water"

Emily couldn't hide her excitement.

Next we met with our orientation group and met Marie. After that we had to take a 2 hour train trip to Dachsenhausen where our  families met us.
Marie must have thought we were the weirdest people ever
Because we had been up for over 24 hours at that point.

Next I met my family and within the first 20min I tripped over a rose bush because I was so tired.
HAH
But they're very nice and welcoming.
The language barrier is quite difficult,
but what else would I expect?
By the time I was able to fall asleep I had
been up for 33 hours straight.
New personal best.

Pack Unpack Pack Rearrange Unpack Repeat

So, 1 week left.
I thought I would be a little bit more squeamish at this point. But, for some reason I am really calm.
My mom, not so much
If I do find myself getting anxious, I start packing.
then unpacking, repacking, rearranging, unpacking, etc.
I have done that quite a bit now.
But I must say travel space bags are a LIFE SAVER.
more like a space saver
HAH
 Yeah.
But I am very proud of myself that I have fit my next years wardrobe in a suitcase weighing only 48lbs.
And for a young lady lovin' clothes,
That's quite an accomplishment.
But I am seriously surprised I am not like,
physically shaking right now.
Maybe it's just the calm before the storm type of thing...
but what evs
This is will be fun!

PS- I'll add some fancy photos when I actually have fancy photos.
